Ruby the Roo will be rolled out on electronic billboards across the globe as part of Tourism Australia's Come and say G'Day campaign.

"We have in the past had very, very successful campaigns to attract overseas tourists to Australia. We now need to do that again."

Tourism Australia's chief marketing officer, Susan Coghill, said the new CGI brand ambassador was"uniquely Australian" and will translate across English and non-English speaking countries. "The use of an animated character in Ruby was a deliberate move that aims to cut through the clutter of destination marketing internationally and it is backed by research," she said.
