Following a disastrous end to the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations campaign, the Black Stars fired Milovan Rajevac and recruited a former Ghana international in Addo to lead the four-time Africa Cup of Nations winners to the World Cup.
The west African giants were able to get the better of South Africa and Nigeria on their way to successfully qualifying for the global showpiece for the fourth time in their history. With the likes of Eddie Nketiah and Callum Hudson Odoi having ruled themselves out of squad selection for Ghana, the team still bolsters some notable Premier League players amongs their ranks.Addo has included Crystal Palace’s Jordan Ayew and Arsenal’s Thomas Partey to compliment new arrivals such as Inaki Williams, Tariq Lamptey and Mohammed Salisu.
Ghana have not been convincing as of late in their international friendlies as they suffered heavy defeats to Japan and Brazil. Addo, however, will perhaps be hoping that the lack of expectation will spur his charges on to better their compatriots from 2010, who made it all the way to the quarter-final stage of the tournament.
