Sky News Business Editor Ross Greenwood says slowly Australia’s international tourists are returning with October having just over 1.2 million international arrivals, compared with 20,000 in October last year.

“The Kiwis there leading the charge – more than 82,000 short-term arrivals, the UK 33,500 and Singapore more than 29,000,” Mr Greenwood said. “Anthony Albanese’s meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the G20 summit is important, given the radical decline in Chinese tourism – once our biggest source but now nudged out of the top five by India.

“For perspective, the number of arrivals in October was just over half the record 2.26 million who turned up in January 2020.”
