“Thanksgiving is one of the busiest holidays for road trips, and this year will be no different,” Bob Pishue, a transportation analyst at the firm INRIX, . “Although travel times will peak on Wednesday afternoon nationally, travelers should expect much heavier than normal congestion throughout the holiday weekend. Knowing when and where congestion will build can help drivers avoid the stress of sitting in traffic.”The best and worst times to be on the road, broken down by day:
INRIX, a private company specializing in traffic data, suggests drivers travel early Wednesday morning or before 11 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day for the easiest commute. Keep in mind that there might be other factors that may slow down expected traffic patterns, including the weather.
