A spokesperson for the Met Office said: “We’re pretty confident that it’s going to be staying cold for the whole UK throughout the coming week. “We are expecting some locally significant snow to accumulate through this evening and overnight across south east England, so a snow and ice warning comes into effect for parts the Greater London and the south-east of England from 6pm this evening, and that will continue to bring some snow overnight into Monday morning.”
The severe conditions have already been causing travel disruption, with Manchester Airport temporarily closing both runways on Saturday morning due to “heavy snow”.
