Hotels which volunteered to house Ukrainians are being approached to host other applicants for protection

Nick Henderson, chief executive of the Irish Refugee Council, said if Citywest closed “it is very likely there will be large-scale homelessness”.

A spokeswoman for the Dublin Region Homelessness Executive said it has “no remit for the provision of accommodation to applicants, and that homeless accommodation is at or near full capacity in the Dublin region”. A spokesman for Mr O’Gorman said there were only around 12 spaces in the tents at Knockalisheen direct provision centre – with no capacity to extend it. “It is not currently possible to expand this due to operational constraints at the site,” the spokesman said, while tented options previously in Athlone and Tralee “will remain decommissioned and will not return to use”.

There are currently about 73,000 migrants housed in Ireland, comprising 54,000 Ukrainian refugees and 19,000 international protection applicants. That compares to approximately 7,500 people before war broke out in Ukraine.

And when is the EU providing funding to build new accommodation and removing economic migrants from the people they are sending over ?

how are they contacted if they are wandering the streets

Ukrainian transit hub . Not a problem. Off the boats a big problem

How are they getting here

They should all be left to fend for themselves.

Oh so the Irish Times finally figured out the wind is blowing too strongly in the right direction. Never forget who is responsible for indoctrinating/brainwashing Europe into being a doormat.

Arriving Still Arriving On an Island By plane In the UK the gov have the flimsy but plausible deniability of claiming they can't stop the dinghy's crossing the short distance from Calais.. So what's the Irish gov's excuse! Proving it's deliberate in the UK too.

Sounds awfully like a far-right plot to dissuade prospective newcomers from seeking asylum here.

Good...

When will the madness end we are full

So, Irish Times is far-right now?

Wow this is very racist and far right

It is almost as if the welfare of refugees isn’t so much a concern as destabilisation of western economies and societies. 🤔

Plenty of hotels in Ireland there is no reason why they should not be put up in them

So then you admit that IrelandIsFull

This is going to lead to stigma and more division - why can't you put a cap on the refugees coming in from Ukraine , but offer good support to those coming - asylum applications processed quickly - no to Albanian, Georgia etc... and more on - why all this nonsense!

Now it's crystal clear for anyone who cares to open their eyes, that the government has completely lost control of this situation. They never had a plan. Outside of making themselves look good and virtuous to their friends in Europe. No plan at all. Gross Incompetence.

What is a refugee? Anyone from anywhere who shows up at our border and mutters the word “ asylum” with or without identification. And they are allowed enter the state. A state with arguably the worst housing crisis on earth. Incredible

Maybe it’s time for citizens to sneak into the country declaring themselves asylum seekers?

So you're saying we've nowhere to put them?

🥱

If individuals do arrive without documentation or identification, what processes will be put in place to do a basic background check to see if they have a criminal record or convictions abroad, or an outstanding warrant, before waving them in & leaving them to their own devices?

That's some u turn by yourselves 🤣🤣

Food vouchers? You mean bags of cans.

So does this mean that Ireland is actually full? 🤔 irelandisfull

Irelandisfull

OH NO! we're going to treat them like we do the native peasant Irish? The holy mortifying liberal shame of it!

Stop this madness for god’s sake!! The country is not able to cope with the number of immigrants. We can all agree there’s people coming here that are not fleeing anything, we need to be honest about that & take action ASAP before our country is destroyed 🇮🇪

None of this performative hospitality is around for 10,000 Irish homeless people. It's hypocrisy. Take care of your own and if there's any left over you can help others. But not in this country. The less fortunate are spat at and stepped on. It's Irish against Irish.

So IrelandisFull after all 🤦‍♂️

This is a recipe for disaster

StellaArcana Don't let them off the plane than

Well, stop inviting them here? Most are not arriving here directly. Seems obvious to me.

Could that possibly mean that Ireland is…full ?

Refugees? Do you mean actual real refugees, bona fide, refugees or single male, economic migrants that go through multiple safe countries and usually arrive in places like Ireland and the UK deliberately without any form of ID?

Lots of big houses, 'empty nesters', comfortable and warm in Foxrock, Carrickmines, Dalkey, Malahide etc. Spread the Diversity to those welcoming areas which are missing out!

Over 90 percent are economic migrants. These should be removed from the state immediately. Free up space for genuine refugees

What sane Irish person wants open borders, unlimited refugees & non vetted male welfare tourists dumped into their towns/villages in 1000s? Roderic O'Gorman also wants to saturate the place further with the scam/his fetish for 'climate change refugees.' It is absolute lunacy.

I though only racists said IrelandIsFull ?

Can't the gipseys help

Return to sender 👌🏻

Vouchers to spend in Dalkey and Foxrock please. They welcome them apparently that's who was on Fairview bridge

Send them back to Africa

'Contacted' - Nobody knows who the fu*k half of them are. 😂

What the hell - it is the governments job to know and control WHO is entering this country, and to protect its citizens. Who exactly can we expect to encounter on our streets? Does anyone know anymore? 🤡

Surely you've got lots of spare caravans 😅

Seeking refuge from what? Asylum is supposed to be sought in the first safe country so what countries are these people coming from? Scammers abusing the asylum process should not be in this country.

Why are we giving fraudsters accommodation? It’s a massive pull factor.

Here is a novel idea send them back to the airport they departed from to get here. Let's say it's Paris. Just send them back to France. After all they're part of the EU like us so let them deal with it. We are done IrelandIsFull

Maybe put them up in the IT offices?

Could we give this lad some clothes

Don’t let them in here then! WTF is going on? Seriously

You ruined your country and for what?

Or we could have a mature conversation about a moratorium on new arrivals until we get the infrastructure in place which allows us to help those in need. But the brains of the intellectually departed on the left, whose only contribution is to scream 'RACIST', won't allow that.

There is insanity contained in those article. Filling the streets with unvetted IPS (army men) will not work out well.

Wait a minute. Sounds like IrelandIsFull to me. Looks like its ok to say that now.

You should add the hastag IrelandIsFull because that's what you appear to be reporting

Why are we letting them in ffs

We will end up building tent refugee camps which is the accommodation in which most refugees across the world live. This will greatly reduce the appeal of Ireland as a destination to non-genuine asylum seekers.

That’s because IrelandisFull, but some would prefer to pretend it isn’t and let people sleep on the street. Virtue signalling works in mysterious ways.

Why are we still allowing people to illegally enter Our Country? .Why are Irish Politicians telling them to keep coming and that we have to take them ? .Why are Our Government still accepting people who destroy their documents in transit ?

No international protection seekers should have to sleep on the streets. We had 80-100 people telling us on Wednesday night on Fairview bridge that they had space. GaryGannonTD AodhanORiordain OCallaghanCian should have their contact details and can help.

There's going to be absolute mayhem in a few months when the tourist season starts and the gov't contracts with hotels end. There will be thousands of migrants left on the streets.

Dont let them do this to you!

What a travesty for all involved. This is precisely what many good hearted Irish people have been saying for some time. The same publication brands these people 'far right', when in reality they are more sensible centrist who are measured and tried to forewarn what would happen

Oh the irony

Does that mean IrelandisFull then?

There is plenty of room in the gaffs of rodericogorman HMcEntee MaryLouMcDonald sinnfeinireland Ginosocialist paulmurphy_TD LeoVaradkar MichealMartinTD liamcunningham1 PresidentIRL EamonRyan simoncoveney etc...

What is the opposite of empty? 4 letters.

Could the EU help with donations of ready made wooden buildings to accommodate refugees ? We have space. Arent there even several wood manufacturing companies around Ireland?

Tintown at the Curragh, Spike Island?

'Official Ireland' types who classed IrelandIsFull as 'far right,' now saying IrelandIsFull. Why have these clowns not resigned yet?

Government scrambles to find excuses as to why pop up economic migrant holding pens aren’t being sourced where FG voters live. diversityfortheebutnotforme
