The Dallas-Fort Worth leads the country in new hotels with 176 projects in the development pipeline at the end of 2022, according to the latest estimates from industry analyst Lodging Econometrics.Atlanta was the second busiest hotel development market with 145 hotels on the way. Nationwide there were 5,465 hotel projects with 650,626 rooms under development – an increase of 14% from the end of 2021.
“The 2023 outlook for the lodging industry looks strong, as it continues to recover from the lows experienced throughout the past two years,” Lodging Econometrics analysts said in their year-end report. “Although the U.S. and the hotel industry continue to face some economic challenges, travel and hotel bookings increased substantially during 2022 and the new construction pipeline in the U.S.
