Located within the hotel’s Auriga Spa on level six, the 20-metre pool sits under a giant glass-domed ceiling, natural light pouring in. Make Architects was appointed by Pontiac Land Group after Pontiac paid Property and Development NSW $35 million for a 103-year lease of the building in 2015, and committed to a $300 million refurbishment in consultation with the Heritage Council of NSW. .

The doormen’s shoes were at peak shine; general manager Marc von Arnim was on hand to greet guests, while housekeeping ensured the “hotel tucks” on the European Frette sheets were just so.
