P.E.I. tourism operators are rebuilding their properties ahead of the coming season after post-tropical storm Fiona devastated the region last fall.

Fairways Cottage is also completing a winterized project.

While Lowther’s cottage operation faces fewer challenges with its insurance company than some others, as they received help covering most of the cleanup expenses and some lost revenue, not every tourist operator on P.E.I. has been assisted with insurance – yet.Shingles and siding blew off buildings at Cavendish Country Inn and Cottages during post-tropical storm Fiona in September. It’s like five months now and we haven't heard anything from them yet.”“And then I’m just waiting for them to do a report and let us know the status of the claim. I’m still waiting for them and they’re still processing I suppose, ” he said.“We have shingles blown off the top of the roof there. And then one of our two-storey cottages, the roof was blown away.

Eventually, Liu got some of his property's roofs done last December. He will have to wait to finish the rest in spring.
