Many workers who do take vacations say they still spend some of that time checking in with the office.Millions of American workers may have skipped taking vacations last year even as many of them report feeling burned out and employers battle a tight labor market while trying bring workers back to the office as the COVID-19 pandemic wanes., a management consulting firm based in Arlington, Va., finds that 39 percent of 1,001 U.S.
While the top impediment to taking a vacation was the cost, respondents said, self-imposed pressure to stay on top of work was the second-ranked consideration, weighing on 33 percent of employees. "It’s critical to productivity and mental health that employees periodically and fully disconnect from the demands of the workplace," she said."This means not checking email and participating in virtual meetings during vacation."
The survey found, however, that fewer workers say they're burned out, dropping to a rate of 46 percent in February from 58 percent in August 2020.
