“For too long now Idaho lawmakers have slipped under the radar with some of the strictest anti-abortion laws in the country. Now, they are using an incredibly serious term like trafficking to talk about young people traveling with trusted adults to access a legal procedure in another state. It’s despicable,” Mistie DelliCarpini-Tolman, Idaho state director of Planned Parenthood Alliance Advocates, told Jezebel in a statement.
“This law should serve as a warning to everyone living in states with lawmakers that are hostile to this critical health care procedure: this could be coming to your state, too.”The governor defended the newest law in his notification letter to the Idaho state House Speaker Mike Moyle on Wednesay,The new law has a carve-out for the AG’s office to enforce its felony and civil penalties in case a local prosecutor thinks they have more pressing matters to prosecute, such as murder.
Allowing people to seek legal healthcare services isn’t trafficking. Trafficking is when states like TX and FL load migrants on buses in the middle of the night and send them to other states without telling them where they’re going or why.
The GOP saw Dobbs as a long-sought victory. The political greed it engendered may be the party's downfall.
Republicans do really hate freedom.
