The Royal Household is to open up its archives to a three-year project investigating the connections. The Daily Telegraph reports that the King has not ruled out the possibility of paying reparations, though Buckingham Palace said the issue amounted to "speculation".

For centuries slavery was legal & all alive in those years were equally responsible inc the African tribesmen who sold their own into slavery, the companies with royal charters, sea captains, & those who laboured in ports as Bristol etc. To criminalise in retrospect is shameful.
