Southwest and the Federal Aviation Administration said by late morning on the East Coast that the pause had been lifted.
“Southwest has resumed operations after temporarily pausing flight activity this morning to work through data connection issues resulting from a firewall failure,” the Dallas airline said in a prepared statement. “Early this morning, a vendor-supplied firewall went down and connection to some operational data was unexpectedly lost.”
By late morning on the East Coast, Southwest accounted for well over half of all delays nationwide, but the airline had canceled fewer than a dozen flights, according to FlightAware. In December, Southwest canceled nearly 17,000 flights over the Christmas holiday due to bad weather and its crew-scheduling system becoming overwhelmed. Those cancellations cost the airline more than $1 billion and are being investigated by the Transportation Department.

If you have Southwest shares, you should have been emailed or sent a letter to vote on the Board of Directors. Please vote “no” for every measure and candidate. Time to clean house and right the ship. SouthwestAir swapapilots
Is this Pete Buttigieg trying to work again?
Friendly reminder that it wasn’t Mayor Pete’s idea for Southwest to use outdated technology for years.
Ouuuuu I never flew in southwest but I’m definitely going to look out for them !!
Maybe the Chinese hacked Southwest because what's joe gonna do.
They need better service and employees 😂
Another tough day at the office for SWA.
Southwest tech issue:
I stopped flying Southwest because you can't reserve a seat

Hope Mayor Pete is feverishly working to identify why Racism caused this
SouthwestAir did you try turning it off and then on again?

They have an IT problem. They using an outdated computer system, while at the same time still trying to learn how to use a new system. They spending money on the wrong technology, I been there, I know.
They weren't held accountable by SecretaryPete the last time this happened, so of course this happened again. This is going to keep happening because our government is owned by corporations.
Their service has slipped quite a bit in the last couple decades. They use to be a low cost carrier with fun customer service and now they are a high cost airline sardine space with unpredictable service. Sad.
'Technical' issues......I bet the pilots had the jab and that's why.....it really makes you think.

When your homebase is in TX why would you expect any progress?
LMAO.. 😆🤣 Strand me over the holidays, I hope they go bankrupt and Braniff.. FuckSouthwest
Continues to lose its’ way. Pathetic management! How much PPP did you take? SouthwestAir
Uh oh. Hey, gotta care.
Why does this only happen to Southwest?
This appears to be false. SW air had flights that just took off
And yet I didn't see it on their Twitter.
We should be dragging SWA into Congress for hearings on these problems rather than doing the current dog and pony shows.
I just got off my Southwest Airlines flight
The Great Southwest Meltdown
Southwest and the Federal Aviation Administration said by late morning that the pause had been lifted.
This is a repeated problem with this airline, they need stiffer penalties for not maintaining their infrastructure, penalize them. FAA shouldn't work for the airlines.
Again…sheesh
LOVEISBLINDreunion
whaaat
Here we go again. Anybody that flies this airline is just asking for it. Same system for the STONE AGE.
The ground stop is already over lasted like 20 minutes this isn’t even news
Has SecretaryPete made a comment? Or is he too busy engaged in butt sex with his tra*ny husband, Chasten?
Yikes
Here we go again 🙄 Southwest can't seem to keep it together lately
For anyone interested, the 'Grounding' has been lifted already
Lifted. 'The Federal Aviation Administration on Tuesday morning lifted a nationwide ground stop for Southwest Airlines flights after earlier issuing the order, citing “equipment issues.”'
Omg
Bring back Northwest Air? Better
The same company that continually lobbies against high speed rail in this country.
'intermittent,' the worst.
