Mohd Hairi said the organiser was targeting 6,000 Malaysian and foreign participants for the race to be held in Desaru.

State youth, sports, entrepreneur development, cooperatives and human resources committee chairman Mohd Hairi Mad Shah said L’Etape Johor by Tour De France on July 8 was one such event.

“This is the second time that we are hosting this event. Last year, more than 4,700 cyclists took part, making it the second largest L’Etape race organised by the Tour De France.“We are confident this edition will be able to make history again with an even larger participation,” he said in his speech before launching L’Etape Johor 2023 at Velodrome Johor in Iskandar Puteri.

L’Etape Johor 2023 by Tour De France features five categories – a 140km route, individual and team categories as well as the elite category for competitive riders.
