So British Overseas Territory and part of the U.K. family is alright but not British Colony. Never heard of the U.K. family before, so would it be a niece or aunty or uncle perhaps?

We all know that Gibraltar is a nest of corruption, drugs, black market tobacco, alcohol and shelter of ghost and pirate companies. It hurts Spain and Europe a lot, and nowadays, it is ridiculous, that this Colony remains and generates very bad roll between all of us.

It's a done deal no discussion no matter how many eu legal measures are looked into . We say it is an overseas territory .thats it fini done no more questions and do one Spain . Stop telling uk what to do .Sovereignty.

It will be though.

Gibraltar is a colony. I recommend you read some book.

the UK, does the bbc remember where the UK is? the bbc only ever mentions the EU.does the bbc remember who pays its wages?

Up yours Spain !

There's fewer people in Gibraltar than in Goodison Park on a Saturday afternoon. Not exactly the 'Jewel in Crown'. British empire is long dead haha.

EU is more a colony to the UK, as it depends on UK free hand outs to survive.

The USofA is therefore a UK colony ?

Spain is so heavily reliant on uk for export of its farm produce, fruit, veg, tourism that they should check who their true friends are before pursuing this obsession with Gibraltar. Those who have visited the Rock will concur that it’s as British as Bristol Belfast Bangor or Braemar

And it is. So.. 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

We should give it to Spain. It voted to remain in the EU, so let it.

There you go............the EU writing the rule book for its own end, let’s have Normandy back and fortify the Channel Islands before Macron gets ideas above his station

They can call Gibraltar what they like it’s British tell Spain to sod off

As mention in elsewhere in this thread..

I object to them implying anybody but themselves cares it's only a lable Spain has given it and hasn't changed the connection with Britain so who cares.

Object all you like. Once you’re out of the EU then Aaron Banks’ wee tax-scam colony is vulnerable. youvotedforthis

I'm sure the Moroccans would say the same to Spain

The great siege of Gibraltar 🇬🇮 took place during the American war of independence with 65,000 Spanish and French troops versus 7,500 British troops. And Spain still lost just like the three 'Invincible' Armarda's they sent.

Smoke and mirrors!

If the UK was to stay in the EU that’s all it would be

Thats exactly what it is though

Ceuta & Melilla are what ?

Let them wallow in their bitter realisation that their pathetic blackmail tactics failed.

UK has no say in EU classification of it’s territories post Brexit No point in being petulant. That’s the way it is. And UK wants to reopen the withdrawal agreement.....it’s farcical.

But that's literally what it is.

Not half as much as Gibraltar will!

Legit beef by the Brits. If Gibraltar had a Spanish population who couldn’t vote to secede from Great Britain, you would have something. But nope, they’re Britons whose great-grandparents were born there. If you’re still mad about the Treaty of Utrecht, take it up with Louis XIV.

Britain and Spain should ask GIBRALTER how it wants to be referred to in the document

It's a colony since the treaty of Utrecht was a consequence of the intention of the UK, Netherlands and France to rule about the new king in Spain.

Wouldn't it be nice if, just for once, our gov't had something positive to offer instead of just whinging. Heard some bod on WATO burbling about about NoDealBrexit being positive for farmers etc. Utter rubbish. It will bankrupt the UK and people need to know that!

Perhaps Morocco needs to reopen discussions with Spain over Ceuta and Melilla? The UK could lend it's backing to them as a permanent member of the UN. 'Hypocritical' doesn't even begin to cover it.

The irony here is the numerous Spanish colonies in Africa are deemed by the EU to be a part of...Spain and there was no treaty either Spain simply stole the land.

It is a colony, exactly like Ceuta and Melilla are.

Cue europhiles who have no understanding of history saying they're completely correct and we should flagellate ourselves for existing while British

There's no 'controversy' over it's status - they want to be British, they're happy being British, it is Spain throwing their toys out of the pram.

Oh the technicalities
