McCarthy hedges bets on risks of AI Economists are often teased for getting their predictions wrong.

Post Script noticed that John McCarthy, the Department of Finance’s chief economist, has found a nifty workaround to this dilemma long-faced by his profession. Last week, at the ESRI’s Budget Perspectives Conference, McCarthy gave a “stock take” of the current economic and budgetary situation. It was a graph-heavy presentation, of course.
