Work to add more sand in Brick and Toms River has been put on pause because of a protest over construction contracts, officials said.

A beach entrance in Brick Township last summer was closed because of severe erosion. A replenishment project to add more sand to the beach has been put on hold due to a bid protest over the construction contracts for the project.Work to add sand to Ocean County beaches has now been put on pause while the Federal Army Corps of Engineers tries to resolve a bid protest over the award of the project’s construction contracts.

The project in both Brick and Toms River has been suspended after the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection notified township officials of the bid protest in a June 15 email viewed by NJ Advance Media.
