Its maiden San Francisco to Manila flight is scheduled to take off on October 29, 2023. Thereafter, it will operate daily flights to and from the two cities.
“Having a US carrier service will generate more traffic to the Philippines since we have a large customer base and the travel demand from the United States is really exploding,” United Airlines regional director for sales in Southeast Asia Walter Dias said at a press briefing on Wednesday.The United Airlines executive added that overseas Filipino workers will also benefit to from the new direct flight.
United Airlines currently operates flights between Manila and Guam, and Palau. It aims to operate 700 new narrow and widebody aircraft by the end of 2032 as part of network-wide efforts to expand local and international routes. Philippine Airlines, which operates direct flights to and from San Francisco and Manila, earlier welcomed additional competition on transpacific routes, describing it as a “sign of the strength and vitality of the air travel market between the Philippines and the United States.”
