John Cena Ruins Lil Rel Howery's Work Trip In Raunchy Vacation Friends 2 Trailer

The movie, which will premiere on Hulu on August 25, is a sequel to the 2021 comedy Vacation Friends. The original followed Marcus and Emily meeting the boisterous Ron and Kyla while on vacation in Mexico.

Could Vacation Friends 2 Launch a Franchise? The existence of Vacation Friends 2 is somewhat surprising in the first place. In addition to the fact that producers were able to reunite the cast so quickly, the original movie wasn't entirely well received in 2021. It received a mildly Rotten score on Rotten Tomatoes with 57 percent and scored even less from audiences.

However, the movie must have nevertheless drawn a relatively wide audience. While Hulu hasn't officially shared the viewership numbers of Vacation Friends, Nielsen reports that it debuted below Cruella and He's All That with 2.75 million views. That is reportedly even higher than the debut of Hulu's popular Ben Affleck and Ana de Armas erotic thriller Deep Water the following year.

Hulu has been dabbling in franchise entries lately, releasing both the Predator prequel Prey and the reboot Hellraiser in 2022. However, Vacation Friends 2 is the first time they have released a sequel to one of their own original movies. If this movie hits the same level of viewership as the original, the streamer could very well greenlight another entry and have a proper movie franchise on their hands.
