Manchester is bracing itself for what is set to be another busy day of of travel as thousands are expected to attend huge events across the city on Saturday including Manchester Pride and Noel Gallagher’s gig in Wythenshawe.
Manchester United will also be playing Nottingham Forest in the English Premier League at Old Trafford on Saturday, with kick-off at 3pm. In addition, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds will be performing at Wythenshawe Park, with support from Primal Scream and Future Islands. Doors to the huge gig will open from 2pm.TfGM has said that trams and buses are expected to be busiest between 12pm and 2.30pm and between 5pm and 7pm around St Peter’s Square, Deansgate and Old Trafford.
TfGM have said the Outer Ring Road , along with key routes towards the city centre, Wythenshawe Park and Old Trafford, are also set to be heavily congested. Due to the United game, roads from junctions 6 and 7 of the M60 will see significant congestion. Sean Dyball, TfGM head of customer experience, said: “It’s shaping up to be a fantastic bank holiday weekend in Greater Manchester and we want everyone to enjoy it to the full – whatever they’re doing.
