SCOTRAIL has reminded travellers that the majority of services across Scotland are operating as normal despite strike action by members of the RMT.

Thousands of workers at a number of train operators across the UK are taking part in planned strike action.READ MORE:ScotRail customer operations director Phil Campbell said: “The dispute between the trade unions and other train operators does not involve any ScotRail staff, which means we’ll be able to run our services as normal during the latest industrial action.

Specifically, ScotRail has warned that a “small number” of services between Glasgow Central and Carlisle and between Dumfries and Carlisle will be impacted due to “train dispatching being carried out by other train operators at Carlisle station”. Cross-border travel will also be disrupted as workers with LNER and Avanti West Coast are also taking strike action.

ScotRail also urged its customers to plan ahead on what is set to be a busy weekend as the Scotland rugby team takes on Georgia.ScotRail customer operations director Phil Campbell said: “The dispute between the trade unions and other train operators does not involve any ScotRail staff, which means we’ll be able to run our services as normal during the latest industrial action.

“We’d also urge anyone travelling to plan their journey in advance, as we’re expecting our trains to be much busier than normal due to the rugby at Murrayfield, final weekend of the Edinburgh Festivals, and customers of other operators travelling with ScotRail.”
