Victorian forced to choose euthanasia in Switzerland because our local law was so watered down by Christian and 'do-gooder' interference, to the point of being useless.
Terrible that this is not possible at home.

I would like to die (possibly at a time of my own choosing) feeling calm, content, loving, thankful and cared for with my trust and belief in the Divine. Not with anxiety, pain, grief, confusion, loneliness and disassociation.

We should have the right to euthanasia here in Australia and not have to suffer and go over seas to end it. We put our dogs and cats down if they are suffering and we should have the same right.
When are we going to have an adult conversation about the right for the individual not the state to decide how one lives and dies?
No one gives consent to be born. We should at least be able to choose a humane death, at any age, for any reason.
This situation is so sad for the person who is sick & their family. To not be able to make that private choice for yourself with family around is heartbreaking, so many people may not have the money to go to another country to pass away with dignity. Why should they have to?
Very sad but I agree with him, Australia is WAY behind other countries. We need to change our laws.
This should be a priority. My mum could have died with dignity at a time of her choosing.
The problem is the suffering not the being alive part, so why not just take away the suffering? This is medically possible, it just costs a lot of money. People like to ignore this fact.
If I was you / us I would be organising a end of life savings in same vein as superannuation ‘ so can pop over to Sweden ! Just a thought .. up to you !
It’s not too sad . I’m sure his family were there . Smart man not to put up with limitations . We came to live the unlimited ..not to suffer a stupid illness ! Or a bad death . And in Australia it would be bad ! Think How they stuff up N homes .. also stuff up end of life -
80% of Australia's population agree with VAD. Our politicians do not carry out the wishes of the majority.

We have no choice of birth, if someone is suffering an untreatable disease then they should be able to at least have a choice. How shameful that we have no control and have to go elsewhere without our families to have that choice.

I agree. The Victorian VAD is too prescriptive. If ever a man had justification for compassionate VAD, this man did. What about those who can't afford to go to Switzerland?
Stop folk having to leave their country so they can have death on their terms. Its our life it should be our death too. Dignitas should be in all countries for the terminally ill
