Downpours are expected across the city throughout the day and overnight, with a chance of flooding and the potential for lightening and floodwater to cause damage. The Met Office issued a weather alert this morning, highlighting concerns for large swathes of Scotland.
They explain: "Areas of rain with some embedded thunderstorms are likely to persist in places overnight into Monday morning. Where these embedded thunderstorms occur areas of 10-20 mm is likely may fall in less than an hour with a few unlucky sites perhaps seeing 30-40 mm in an hour. Lightning and hail may be additional hazards."
The also point out that the inclement weather could cause delays on the roads and bus and train cancellations in the worst hit areas. And as rush hour approaches tomorrow morning, they warn of potential spray on the roads causing difficult driving conditions. Power cuts and and the chance of deep floodwater are also highlighted as having the potential to hit the city.
According to BBC Weather temperatures in the 20s today are expected to fall to the late teens, where they will remain for the rest of the week.
