A yellow weather warning lasting 12 hours has been issued by the Met Office as heavy rain lashes Yorkshire. Residents can expect outbreaks of rain to become heavier and more persistent today .
There is is up to 50mm of rain in some places. 30mm of rain is expected to last six hours. The Met Office has issued a warning between 1am and 1pm for Tuesday, alerting that there could be some flooding and travel disruption. The warning stretches across West Yorkshire, South Yorkshire, and East Yorkshire. It comes after last weekend people were sunbathing, hosting BBQs, outdoor events, and sharing their shock at the sunshine filled days and 28C conditions.But now, we are saying goodbye to the heatwave; temperatures are expected to cool down and weather is to feel more like Autumn has arrived. There will be “more seasonable temperatures generally,” the Met Office said. Maximum temperatures are predicted to be 18C.
Detailing Tuesday’s conditions, the Met Office added: “Outbreaks of rain are expected to become heavier and more persistent during the early hours of Tuesday, extending east across northeast Wales, the north Midlands, parts of northern England and Lincolnshire.“ 20 to 30 mm rain is likely quite widely within around six hours, with perhaps as much as 40 to 50 mm in a few places. This is likely to cause some flooding and disruption in some locations. The rain is likely to turn more showery during Tuesday afternoon.”
