On Wednesday, September 6 Perth and Kinross councillors unanimously approved an updated application by The John Dewar Lamberkin Trust to expand Perth west of Broxden and the A9.
The in-principle masterplan was approved in June 2021 subject to a legal agreement securing developer contributions and further obligations. Following the conclusion of a "complex" legal agreement process Perth and Kinross Council's Planning and Placemaking Committee was asked to make an updated decision on Wednesday.
Making a deputation, Liberal Democrat councillor Liz Barrett said: "The underpass will come out onto Lamberkine Drive between the Park and Ride roundabout on Glasgow Road and Cedar Drive/ Ettrick Drive. The traffic, emissions and dust will impact residents in much of the Western Edge and Oakbank, and those using the paths in the area on foot or by cycle.
Team leader Sean Panton said: "Transport Scotland were a statutory consultee so we have engaged with them throughout this process. They have no objection to the application. However they have recommended 17 conditions which is quite significant and we have applied all of those conditions to the report."
Mr Panton added: "The director of public health was consulted and they have got no objection and support the provision of the health centre that's proposed."Councillors were told there would be further connections as the Perth West development progressed - with an on/off slip onto the A9 in both directions and access both to the north and south of the development - but initially it would just be via the proposed underpass.
