International arrivals to Australia surged to 1.7 million in July, which is the highest level since January 2020 and about 61 per cent higher than July last year.
The latest data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics confirms a trend that international travel is gradually returning to pre-pandemic levels.The top nationalities arriving during July were New Zealand, followed by the UK, US, India and then Singapore. During July, about 1.5 million people also departed Australia, with about 922,000 of them being Aussies going on short-term trips.
