South Australia Premier Peter Malinauskas is set to travel to China on Thursday ahead of Prime Minister Anthony Albanese’s highly anticipated trip later this year.
It will be Mr Malinauskas’s first trip to China and four years since any South Australia premier has travelled to the country.“If you look at the putative of tariffs that China has had on Australian exports, they’ve disproportionately hurt industries that are big in South Australia.,” the Premier said.
Mr Malinauskas said the focus of this trip will be its trade talks but he will not shy away from discussions around detained Australian Cheng Lei and the role South Australia will play in AUKUS.
