This time, we’re hearing from two Los Altos readers who explored Spain on two wheels.Los Altos residents Fred Linker and Mary Fran Miller cycled the Andalusia region with VBT Tours in May. “En route from Córdoba to Jaén, we rode on one of Spain´s Vías Verdes — ‘greenways or rails-to-trails paths,” Mary Fran says. “The tour highlights included guided visits to UNESCO sites in the Alcazar in Seville, the Mezquita in Córdoba and the Alhambra Palace in Granada.
Los Altos residents Fred Linker and Mary Fran Miller timed their trip to Spain’s Andalusia region to coincide with the 12-day La Fiesta de los Patios de Córdoba, when visitors can enjoy the city’s private courtyards in bloom. Andalusia is referred to as ‘The Frying Pan of Spain’ due to its high temperatures in summer. Spring and fall are ideal times to travel to avoid the heat — and the crowds.
“Besides timing your travel dates for comfortable weather, check the official calendars of festivals as a memorable way to experience Spanish culture. We selected our tour date to coincide with. This is a 12-day festival and competition in which the public can view private courtyards in bloom.” Share your travels with us!
