Queensland Deputy Premier Steven Miles has launched an attack on the “inner-city elite” Greens for trying to impose curfews and flight caps at the Brisbane airport.
Mr Miles has claimed the restrictions, if imposed, could drive the cost of air travel up even further. The Greens party had successfully campaigned on the Brisbane Airport noise issue in the 2022 federal election and subsequently secured three seats, including one of Labor's. “The Greens are not a Party of the environment – they are a Party of the wealthy, inner-city elites,” he said.
“What they are saying is that planes should not fly over the homes of wealthy, inner-city elites – they should only fly over the homes of working people.”
