Susan Aitken, leader of Glasgow City Council is to go to Dubai for COP 28 this year.

The annual climate change conference, which was held in Glasgow two years ago moves to the United Arab Emirates, in the middle east after taking place in Egypt last year.

The six-day trip is costed at more than £1600 with £655 for a return flight to Dubai and, hotel accommodation for 5 nights at £1006. A council report states: “Legacy activities with other cities and city networks have continued since the last two COP events and provided an important context for learning on issues such as climate finance, supporting green economic development, and shared aims around ensuring that a just transition takes place for workers, businesses and communities.

The report adds: “As in previous years, the host Presidency has chosen themes for each day during COP, as detailed in the table below.
