I went on vacation to Greece and wound up in the hospital for a month — doctors say if I fly home I might die

An American woman traveled to Greece — and wound up trapped in the hospital for more than a month.

To make matters worse, Gutierrez was trapped in a hospital thousands of miles away from home. Due to her condition, she was in danger of developing a fatal brain or lung hemorrhage — a risk only intensified by the pressurization in an airplane cabin.“The shocking thing was , ‘You can’t leave at all. You cannot leave because you will hemorrhage. You cannot even go to Athens right now,’” she said.

Prior to traveling to Crete, Gutierrez said she suffered from a two-week-long period, but since she suffered from irregular periods in the past, she didn’t think it was cause for concern.
