New York City is in for a wet, windy and chilly weekend as the outer bands of Tropical Storm Ophelia churn to the south.early Saturday morning, is expected to bring extended downpours, which will be heavy at times, along with winds gusts of 30 to 40 mph.

“It’s going to be a really messy and nasty weekend,” said Fox Weather meteorologist Jordan Overton. “It’s a good weekend to stay inside.” Rain will soak the East Coast this weekend, with 3-5 inches expected along the I-95 corridor from North Carolina up through Connecticut and Rhode Island, with 8 inches possible in some areas.Tropical Storm Ophelia made landfall early Saturday, blasting North Carolina with 70 MPH winds, heavy rain and coastal flooding.
