KOTA KINABALU: The recent incident where a hidden camera was found in the room of a couple from China who were here on their honeymoon did not occur in a registered hotel but at a short-term lodging facility.

Malaysian Association of Hotels Sabah/Labuan chapter chairman Hafizan Wong was commenting on reports that the camera was found in a hotel room.

Hafizan said that hotels have to adhere to strict guidelines and regulations to ensure the well-being of guests. "We extend our deepest sympathies to the affected tourists whose experience was tarnished by this hidden camera incident.
