A bombing attack took place in Turkey's capital, Ankara, this weekend

People planning to travel to Turkey have been issued a warning from the UK Foreign Office after at least one person was killed and two others were injured in a bombing attack.

Thousands of holidaymakers travel from the UK to Turkey each year. However, Government bosses are now urging people to ensure they stay safe. A new Government alert, issued on Sunday , reads: "An explosion occurred in the Kizilay district of Ankara on the morning of 1 October. The Turkish police have announced that no civilians were affected and the incident has been contained.

Two police officers were slightly injured during the attack near an entrance to the Ministry of Interior Affairs, minister Ali Yerlikaya wrote on Twitter, now known as X. The minister said the attack was conducted by assailants who arrived at the scene inside a light commercial vehicle.
