A Chiltern Railways service passes through Willesden Green, north-west London Aslef said the action would “force the train operating companies to cancel all services and the ban on overtime will seriously disrupt the network”.
National Rail said: “On the days where full strike action is taking place, this is likely to result in little or no services across large areas of the network. Services are also likely to be disrupted and start later on the day immediately following a full strike day. Mick Whelan, Aslef’s general secretary, said: “While we regret having to take this action – we don’t want to lose a day’s pay or disrupt passengers, as they try to travel by train – the Government and the employers have forced us into this position.
