The term spyder is not often seen in such close proximity to the words Land, Rover, or Defender, but Kahn wants to change that. Its coachbuilding division, Flying Huntsman, is creating what may well be the ultimate beach vehicle. The 90 Spyder is based on the current Land Rover Defender 90, and seeks to turn it into a fascinating, specialist product that Kahn says hearkens back to the golden age of British coachbuilding.
It’s at once a consolidation and continuation of our legacy of manufacturing special vehicles, supporting British craftsmanship and keeping the art of coachbuilding alive and relevant. As the name suggests, the 90 Spyder will have no permanent roof, but will come with a removable one made of hard-wearing canvas that can be stored in the new cowl. Even with the roof stowed, the vehicle will offer owners similar storage to a factory Defender 90, making it an ideal vacation vehicle.
