maximise our daylight hours to reflect the passing of the seasons, every year it can still catch people out – so here’s when they next go back, and exactly why it happens. The clocks always go back on the final Sunday of October, which means it will happen on 29 October this year – a day earlier than last year.It will also give you an extra hour in bed on the day of the change – which might be welcome if you’ve overdone things at a Halloween party on the Saturday night.
This will stay until the spring – the final Sunday in March, to be exact – when BST will return to give us more daylight in the evenings. On 31 March 2024 the clocks will go forward at 1am , so the majority of us will unfortunately lose an hour of sleep.Switching to BST in March gives us more daylight in the evening from spring into autumn.
