Samantha Gaunche was remanded in custody by the Delmas District Court on 02 October 2023 for a formal bail application scheduled for 09 October 2023 after her appearance for allegedly running over her husband, Jansen Van Rensburg with a vehicle.

It is also alleged that the deceased denied Gaunche the opportunity to drive and stood behind the vehicle.After the ordeal, she eventually drove off leaving her husband behind. Police and medical practitioners were summoned to the scene where Van Rensburg was declared dead. She allegedly alighted from the vehicle and ran towards the bridge. The farm workers apprehended her and took her back to her vehicle. Police were notified and she was arrested for murder.
