Nottingham College and East Midlands Airport have come together to create a new specialist academy. The new school will offer sector-specific training to around 200 students each year in partnership with the airport.
This innovative new training partnership will help provide people with the skills they need to access the range of careers within the aviation, tourism and logistics industries.Marcella M'Rabety, the group head of education, skills and employment at EMA, said: "We’re excited about this new partnership, which establishes improved links between the region’s largest college and East Midlands Airport, an economic powerhouse for the region.
Unemployed learners will be able to attend a three-week intensive programme designed to equip them with the skills needed to take up roles such as ground crew, baggage handling, security, customer service, or roles within hotels, car parks or logistics. Further opportunities could be created over time, which will help to ensure people can access the full range of jobs.
