The airport authority saw 220,489 flyers land at YYG between June and September — a record number and a 7.2 per cent increase over the same period in 2022 and an 11.2 per cent increase over pre-pandemic air travel in 2019.Likewise, YYG’s year-to-date passenger traffic is just shy of 20 per cent above 2022, when 341,649 people passed through, and likely to outpace 2019 which saw 383,183 travelers.
The airport said the growth is the result of “a record five airlines operating flights to seven airports from YYG” during the peak travel season. Looking ahead at its winter flight schedule season, YYG noted added seating capacity from Air Canada thanks to larger aircraft, a once-daily Rouge flight to Montreal and a twice-daily low-cost flight to Toronto.
