Many closures of icy mountain passes are due to driver behavior, including going too fast for winter weather or failing to have proper equipment.

The Washington State Department of Transportation provided some tips to keep holiday drivers safe as they forge ahead on their Mariah Carey- and Miami Boys Choir-filled karaoke trips.
