An amber severe weather alert has been issued across the North West of England due to the impending arrival of Storm Debi. Extreme weather is set to batter most of this part of the United Kingdom.
The warning is in place from 4am Monday to 6pm the same day. Residents across Lancashire, Yorkshire, Greater Manchester, Merseyside, North Wales, Cumbria, and parts of Northumberland have been told to prepare for a chance of injuries and danger to life from flying debris.Road, rail, air and ferry services may be affected, with longer journey times and cancellations possible. Power cuts may occur, with the potential to affect other services, such as mobile phone coverage.
A statement from National Highways says: "National Highways have issued an amber severe weather alert for gales in the North West region of the country for tomorrow from 09:00 until 16:00. Road users in the North West region of England are advised to check ahead and plan for disruption to their journeys.
