There are thousands of different travel hacks touted across the internet as the answer to paying less for baggage, or fitting more items in to the baggage you have paid for.
The controversial video, shared on Instagram, shows a passenger loading their oversized luggage onto the dedicated check-in desk weighing scales to be weighed and tagged before being put on the plane. The clip does not show if the passenger gets away with this attempt - the video may have been made as a joke - but people in the comments section are not too happy. However, one combatted: "To all the people saying this throws off the weight of the plane; think, did they weigh each meticulously person too?"
A second backed up this idea: "I tried it doesn’t work, you can’t stable the weight at one value. The machine only gives the final value when the weight is stable for few seconds. If you keep fluctuating the weight it will keep on recording different values until it is stable. So, not worth it."
