Sometimes all you want in a hotel is a bed to roll into after a night out and a shower. But there are certain travellers to Nottingham who want to make more of their stay in luxurious surroundings.
A slate of miniature desserts and 'welcome' written in chocolate greets us. It's like a posh penthouse apartment - minus a kitchen. We don't see anyone else on the fourth floor throughout our entire stay even though there's plenty of people around elsewhere. Two comfortable grey armchairs face the LG television in the the lounge, which also boasts a sofa, coffee table, and lamps in every corner to complement the main lights which have dimmer switches so you can change the mood. The bathroom far exceeds usual hotel standards. You can take a long leisurely soak in a very deep free-standing bath.
A king-size bed that you can lose yourself in dominates the bedroom. You can lie there watching another TV or put your feet up on the leather lounger next to it. Extra touches don't go unnoticed and it's the little things that make a difference such as plenty of coathangers in the wardrobe - why do some rooms have about three? - and a mirror, table and stool where you can sit and style your hair in comfort.
We didn't get to benefit from it but there's more wow factor from the suite's rooftop terrace. Imagine staying there and having an alfresco party in the summer. "I could get used to staying in the lap of luxury", I say to my husband, who has that worried look that a Premier Inn is no longer going to cut the mustard.
