South Africans will spend between R1.02 and R2.18 per kilometre driving to their holiday destination this Easter weekend, depending on the type of vehicle they drive, a MyBroadband analysis has revealed.
In February 2024, the South African National Roads Agency announced its toll fee updates. The changes took effect on 1 March. However, it should be noted that hybrid vehicles tend to perform better in urban environments and driving at highway speeds will likely worsen their consumption. Comparing the three vehicles across all routes, the Volkswagen T-Cross is the most expensive to drive, with the hybrid Corolla Cross being the cheapest.
