) - City leaders in Gadsden are expecting a huge economic impact with tourism picking up at Noccalula Falls.Noccalula Falls is the rock city of Gadsden when it comes to tourism and people have made it a family gathering place.
“One of the biggest things that we’ve made improvement wise with safety is we built some steps that go down to the gorge so now it’s a little bit easier to make your way down to the bottom. We built a suspension bridge about a mile down the gorge that allows you to cross over the creek and make a circular trail that allows you to go around the falls,” says Moore.
With more people visiting, city leaders say they expect a huge economic impact, even while the camp grounds are being renovated. “So, this time next year the campground will be finished. A $15-million-dollar project that’s going into it and we could really see a huge impact even as far as next year with the spring break. It’s a really big, huge impact on the city of Gadsden in Etowah County and we’re excited to be able to offer all these things inside Gadsden,” says Moore.
John Moore went on to say, with the new additions of put-put golf and exotic animals, the falls will continue to be a family destination.
