'My knees are swollen, someone has passed out, children are crying.'

The airport has been described as ‘carnage’ Holidaymakers travelling to Faro, Portugal have been hit with extreme delays after alleged staff shortages. Tourists have been met with three hour delays for flights as e-Gates are reportedly not working. Social media users have even claimed people have passed out while waiting in vain to travel. One X user, Yvette Hughes challenged airline Jet2 over the delays, asking: ‘What the hell is going on.

‘Kindly send us a direct message and we will update you at earliest and accordingly.’ However, Yvette later shared she had received no update: ‘Still queueing and no reply. 4 hours.’ Jet2 has blamed a staff shortage at Faro Airport for the delays, replying to another disgruntled customer to explain: ‘We apologise for the long queues on arrival today, which is beyond our control. ‘This is due to the lack of local immigration staff at Faro Airport.
