A mother in Houston, Texas was arrested after leaving her two children alone in their high-rise apartment for several days while she went on a cruise. The 29-year-old woman was charged with child endangerment and was arrested the day after she returned from her vacation.

HOUSTON, Texas - A mother was arrested after she allegedly left her two children in a high-rise for days while she was on a cruise.29-year-old Lakesha Woods Williams was charged with two counts of child endangerment last Thursday. Per the publication, citing the Harris County Constable Precinct 5, officers allegedly found her eight-year-old and six-year-old alone in their high-rise apartment in Houston, Texas.

On April 9, deputies visited the apartment, allegedly finding the children alone in a messy apartment, littered with food and a "potent smell of urine," according toThe children allegedly told officers that their mother had left to go on a cruise and had been communicating with them via a camera in the apartment and through text messages. The eight- and six-year-old were evaluated by paramedics, along with Child Protective Services, before being given over to the care of an aunt.

Neighbors told police that it was "not the first time" the children had been left at home alone, according toWilliams was taken to the Harris County Jail and was held on a $40,000 bond, according to the publication, citing jail records. The 29-year-old's next court appearance was set for today.
