Manchester has been named among the most popular destinations in the UK, according to Tripadvisor. The city beat the likes of York, Glasgow and Brighton in the list published by the holiday review site.
Seaside favourite Blackpool came in third place on the list - unsurprisingly given how popular it is with day trippers - followed by Liverpool in fourth. The list was shared in Tripadvisor’s Summer Travel Index, which looks at a combination of search and consumer sentiment data to offer an insight into travel demand.
This year’s Summer Travel Index looks at travel trends between June 1, 2024 and August 31 2024. When it comes to destinations abroad, family favourites in Spain and Turkey prove to remain popular. When it comes to fastest growing destinations, Le Mont Felard in Jersey topped the domestic list, followed by Saltash in Cornwall and North Wales’ Portmeirion. Internationally, Sint Maarten in the Caribbean topped the list, while the German city of Munich came in second. Jamaica in the Caribbean followed in third place.
