Car Care,Preventative Maintenance

If you're going on a road trip for the long weekend or preparing for your summer vacation you'll need to take care of your car so that everything goes smoothly.

You don’t want to have auto troubles when you’re hitting the road for Memorial Day or for your summer vacation. So today Northeast Arkansas News spoke to a specialist about what you need to do for preventative car care, so that your car doesn’t end up stalling on a road trip.

Heath Wallace from Glen Sain Motors said doing basic checks and making sure everything looks right is something you can do easily. “Always do a walk around of the vehicle just to check everything. Maybe a crack in the windshield or something like that they keep your from having an accident, or a broken mirror”.

Keeping up with oil, fluids, and tires are easy yet crucial to staying ahead on your vehicle. “The number one thing obviously is that you want to be up to date on your oil change, always check the tread of your tires to make sure you won’t have a blow out really easily," said Wallace. If you have a check engine light on, don’t wait to get it checked out. You don’t want to be stuck when you know you could’ve prevented it. “Nowadays these vehicles are smart enough to know and it’ll shut itself down. Then you could be left stranded in the middle of nowhere and we don’t want you to be stuck far from here especially on a holiday when we’re off too," Wallace told us.
